real wedding: Tricia & Saheel

There is not much we love more than a back to back wedding weekend that is filled with love, family, and the coining of two cultures -- and that is exactly what we had for Tricia and Saheel! With the Indian celebration on Friday (including the most epic groom Barat entrance) and the American wedding on Saturday, this weekend was one for the books.

Tricia and Saheel lead very busy, but very exciting lives -- so their wedding weekend had to obviously follow suit. With the entire weekend set in Tricia's parent's tented back yard, the Indian celebration kicked off mid Friday with Saheel surprising Tricia by arriving via helicopter! This guy knows how to make an entrance, quite literally. Each night the same clear tent took on a different vibe to give the returning guests completely unique and separate experiences. From the colorful, vibrant, pattern-filled Friday night, to the softer but still exotic Saturday reception, each night was full of nods to the couple as well as their heritages (complete with animal figurine escort cards to create a display and homage to Kenya, where Saheel's family was from) to create an inviting atmosphere for guests --- whether they had traveled from up the street or across the world.

We absolutely loved working with this couple and their families to create a wedding weekend as one of a kind as Tricia and Saheel!!

real wedding: Liz & Jim's wedding celebration!

As we celebrated Liz & Jim’s 1 year anniversary this past week, we can’t help but to wish we were back in the throws of planning for this fun couple!

From the drum line leading our stunning bride, Liz, down the aisle (in a dress that looked like it was created solely for her, I might add) to the cocktail hour with a full band which transitioned into a DJ for the reception to create a more club atmosphere that the couple wanted — this wedding had no shortage of phenomenal surprises. With the help of our talented vendors, we were able to completely transform the American Visionary Arts Museum in a way that hadn’t been done before. And because the couple had first met at that very venue years before, and then moved in across the street, it could not have been a more perfect space to celebrate their wedding. We absolutely adored this couple and designing their fabulous celebration is something we constantly reminisce about (and will continue to do so for years and years to come) and wish we could do all over again!!

It will be hard to top a ceremony sealed with a kiss AND a balloon drop but we love a challenge. Happy 1 year Liz & Jim — we hope you are roasting magnum bottles of champagne to many, many more!!

real wedding: Kelli & Aksel - The Perfect Garden-Inspired Soirée

During this cold, Valentine’s Day week, it is only fitting that we are spending our time daydreaming about one of our favorite weddings from 2016 - Kellie and Askel!!  The gorgeous waterfront estate was the perfect backdrop for their summer nuptials. And dare we say, the weather could not have been more perfect (phew!).

Throughout the day, you could clearly see and feel the love these two have for one another and how thankful they were to share this time with their friends and families. The father/daughter “first look,” Aksel’s reaction to Kellie walking down the aisle and guests dancing the night away, it is easy to understand that quite a few (happy) tears were shed! If the day wasn’t exciting enough, our stunning bride, Kellie, was featured on the cover of the Washingtonian Bride and Groom Winter/Spring 2017 issue! We had so much fun working with this couple and being a part of their special day.

Needless to say, it was the BEST. DAY. EVER.

Our Lemon & Lime team absolutely LOVED working with the couple throughout the planning process and were so happy to see all the details come together!

5 Things to Know for Bridesmaids Fashion for 2015/2016

Morgan who is a part of our lemon & lime staff also works for Bella Bridesmaid Baltimore. She joined the owner of the baltimore boutique in NYC for bridal fashion week, and is giving us the inside scoop for bridesmaids trends!

For as timeless as the values and traditions of weddings are, the best part of planning modern day nuptials are the accents that can be customized to make your day as special and unique as you and your groom. You found your dream dress, you(most likely) told your groom what he will be wearing, and now its time to style your girls. Bridesmaids dress trends are constantly changing but are always expected to reflect the style of your wedding while complimenting you and your gown. Luckily, I was fortunate enough to accompany the ladies of the Bella Bridesmaids franchise to Bridal Fashion Week to get the scoop on the latest trends for bridesmaids attire. So prepare yourselves, cause these aren’t your mothers bridesmaids dresses!

love these colors!

#1: Mixing and matching is more than just style swapping We’ve all seen the trend of bridal parties in the same color but each in a different style of dress. Well buckle up, because this trend is advancing fast and the designers this season just kicked it into high gear. Instead of keeping your bridal party in one color, more and more designers are introducing colors that are expected to compliment each other within a color palette. From shades of nudes and neutrals to pops of color that incorporate softer, subdued hues, colors this season are made to stand together without clashing. Thanks to this idea that not all colors have to be the same, the door is now open to a fabrication frenzy as well. So don’t be afraid to step out of that chiffon lined box and include some tulle or lace style options that you may not have considered before because of the lack of color options.

#2: The new neutrals If you love the soft vibe of nude or blush bridesmaids dresses but are worried its been overdone, then you’re in luck this season. Designers are introducing some new colors that bridge the gap between wanting to stay neutral but still loving a pop of color. The answer is in the shades. To keep it simple, but still fun, designers are showing colors in more toned down, dusky hues. From different variations of cloudy blues to shadowy shades of purple and any other dimensions of color your heart may desire. These subtle hints of color truly embody the appearance of romance; which, after all, is the essence of a wedding!

#3: Tulle, taffeta and lace...Oh my! Forget everything you thought you knew about dress fabrications. This year designers are playing a whole new ball game and throwing the rule book out the window. While chiffon is still ever-present, designers have come up with new fabrics and combos to fulfill every fairytale wedding dream you’ve ever had. If you’re looking for a dress that has a little extra without being full on Beyonce bling, then check out a metallic tulle or mesh. Just enough sheen to have your girls shine without competing with their naturally dazzling selves. Or if you’re torn between which fabrication you like better, check out combos like tulle and lace- equal parts fun and fancy. With so many fabrics to play around with each girl is sure to find something to match her style and comfort level.

#4: One dress, endless possibilities For the brides who love the idea of different necklines and styles for each of their maids but are worried its too much of a headache- this ones for you. Enter the idea of a convertible, one dress with infinite capabilities. More and more designers, such as Jenny Yoo and Monique Lhuillier, are following this trend and putting their own spin on it. Which allows you to shop around to find the right convertible dress in the perfect color and fabric for your bridal party. The idea is relatively simple, on its own the convertible dress looks like a straightforward strapless. But look closer, and on both the front and the back of the dress it will have 2 panels that are able to be brought up and tied together to create your desired strap style. Go from strapless to tying it at the neck for a halter. Or gather the front panels to bring across the chest to the back panels for a unique one shoulder. The options are endless and if you get stuck, is your best way to research even more ways to wear it you may have never thought of.

#5: Ceremony formal to reception ready If your maids are even more unique to the point that different style options, or convertible dresses don't peak their interest- we have something for them too. Imagine going from a bustling taffeta gown to a sleek pencil skirt in one swift second. Shout out to Monique Lhuillier for making this dream a reality. With their new "separates" collection, Monique has introduced us to a new way to style your girls for more than just the ceremony. Within this 2-piece separates collection you have the ability to mix 4 different style tops with 4 different types of skirts. The tops feature a lower cut V-neck, a taffeta bustier, a tulle bustier, and a "fly away"- a flared out style that gives the illusion of a crop top but has complete coverage. Pair any of these tops with either a tea length detachable skirt, a straight and sleek pencil skirt, a high-low tulle option, or a long, taffeta fit and flare. With 8 possible combinations a bridal party can find their unique look and have the opportunity to change up their style through out the day and night. This is every fashionista-bridesmaids dream.

meet our newest lemon & lime intern, ashley!

Hi Everyone! My name is Ashley and I am super excited to be lemon & lime’s newest intern. The first memory I have of a wedding was when I was four years old and had the great honor of being the flower girl for my aunt’s big day. I remember three specific things about that day; the red lipstick, my ring bearer counterpart forgetting our cue at the end of the aisle, and the reception where everyone was in the most exceptionally happy moods I’d ever seen them. Since then, I’ve been hooked!

Fast forward 18 years and I’m 22-years-old and recently graduated from Towson University. Trying to figure out how the real world works is a stressful task, so I spend my free time reading, trying to live a healthier and more active life, and exploring every nook and cranny of the social media world. I’m also an enthusiast of many things including Harry Potter, green tea, my new puppy (!!!!), the Ravens, and the equality of all people. In the (somewhat) near future I hope to finish writing my first book and start living my life a little more like a mixture of Beyoncé, JK Rowling, and Harry Styles.

Since the first wedding I’ve attended, and have also been in a few, seeing the joy it brings to everyone involved never fails to amaze me! I tend to worry a lot about things out of my control (like war and rare medical ailments I don’t actually have, eek!), so working with lemon & lime to focus on things that bring such positivity to the world is exactly what I need!
